Members of the Harvard-Westlake of Studio City girls' track and field team have been extended an invitation to compete July 2 at the inaugural Nike Track Nationals in Eugene, Ore.

The Wolverines should benefit from the experience from their challenging schedule during this weekend's appearance at the New Balance Nationals in Greensboro, N.C., formerly known as the Nike Outdoor Nationals.

Led by 800-meter state champion Amy Weissenbach, Harvard-Westlake is entered in 11 girls' events Friday and Saturday, with state finalist Matthew Bedford scheduled to compete in the boys' emerging elite 100, along with the championship heats of the 200 and 400.

Weissenbach, who boasts the No. 3 outdoor time in the nation this year in the 800 at 2 minutes, 7.52 seconds, will race Saturday in the championship heat, which also includes former national outdoor leader Chloe Curtis of Redondo Union of Redondo Beach (2:09.07). Weissenbach is also entered in the emerging elite mile Friday.

Zaakirah Daniels will compete in the prelims of the 100 hurdles Friday, with the final scheduled later in the evening. Lauren Hansson is entered Friday in the emerging elite 400, with Cami Chapus scheduled to race Friday in the emerging elite mile and 2-mile events.

Harvard-Westlake, which set school records in five relays this season, is scheduled to compete in all of them during its daunting two-day schedule.

The Wolverines rank in the top 40 nationally in the 1,600
